Cessna Citation 650 Development & Background
The Cessna Citation III series established a new standard for midsize private jet charter during the 1980s and 1990s. These jets, comprising the Citation III (Model 650), the Citation VI, and the upgraded Citation VII, offer an excellent balance of range, speed, cabin comfort, and operating efficiency. Russ Meyer Jr (CEO at the time) wanted to compete against the Learjet 35 and Hawker 700, and envisioned a comparable aircraft that could still allow easy-to-follow maintenance and ownership experience. After the first flight of the Citation III in 1982, two more powerful variants were created, with over 360 units delivered to family offices, corporations, and midsize jet charter operators.
FlyRoving connects clients to a vetted national network of Citation 650 operators, providing transparent pricing, 24/7 booking support, and concierge-level service for a seamless private jet charter experience.

Cessna Citation 650 - Aircraft Capabilities and Performance
Photo: JetPhotos/Juan Felipe Arango
The Citation 650 is equipped with two Honeywell TFE731 turbofan engines, which produce 2,050 lbs of thrust. The combination of the engines, fuselage, and wing aerodynamics allow a range of 1,547 nm, enabling nonstop missions such as Houston - Chicago at a max speed of 422 knots at 51,000 feet.
The pilots get access to my personal favorite Collins Pro Line avionics suite, with an upgraded flight deck in the VII for additional safety.
The Citation 650 is dual-pilot operated, with charter operations requiring at least 850TT (Total Time) for SIC, and 2500TT for captains.
