Part of the Citation 525 series, the Citation CJ2/CJ2+ is one of the most versatile and popular light private jets for charter. The Cessna Citation CJ2/CJ2+ offers a step up on comfort compared to the CJ1. Similar to the CJ1, the CJ2 has club seating for 4 passengers, but includes additional seating for individuals up to 6. Fold-out executive tables and laptop power ports are available. Climate-controlled pressurized cabin for smooth, quiet flights, with an expanded baggage compartment of 70 cubic ft. for overnight luggage or multiple golf bags.

Cessna Aviation Company decided to provide the Cessna Citation CJ2 with two extremely reliable and efficient Williams FJ44-2C turbofan engines, which deliver fuel-efficient subsonic cruise at 413 KTAS, a service ceiling of 45,000 ft, an increased range of 1,700 nautical miles, easy-to-use Garmin-based avionics for pilot interface and navigation, and a consistent short-field takeoff capability. In 2006, Cessna introduced FADEC (Full Authority Digital Engine Control), which was standard on the Cessna Citation CJ2+ variant. This was a critical improvement, as it was a system that used computers to manage engine performance, thrust, fuel flow, and other parameters to reduce pilot workload.
