Cessna Citation Excel Experiences/Testimonials
“The Citation Excel gives us the best of both worlds: big-jet comfort with smaller-jet runway access. As a pilot, I appreciate its Pratt & Whitney engines and robust avionics, especially when flying into mountain airports.” – Senior Citation Captain
Cessna Citation Excel Development & Background
During the 1990s, Russ Meyer saw a distinct gap between two incredible products they were offering at the time, the Citation V Ultra and one of the fastest jets at the time, the Cessna Citation X. Cessna took the stand-up cabin of the Cessna Citation X, and combined it with the straight-wing supercritical airfoil of the Citation V/Ultra series, while carrying the Citation V cruciform tail.
After being introduced to the public in 1998, Cessna aimed to meet the growing demand for affordable midsize jets with stand-up cabins and better operating economics. Production ran until 2004 with 370 units delivered, and was updated with the Citation XLS and XLS+ variants.
