Daher TBM 910 Development & Background

In 2014, Daher sought to modernize the TBM platform entirely, launching the TBM 900 as a near-complete redesign rather than a simple upgrade. A fully redesigned composite five-blade Hartzell propeller was attached to the front for improved climb and cruise efficiency. A new inlet plenum system enhanced airflow to the Pratt & Whitney PT6A-66D engine, reducing drag and increasing available thrust. On top of that, a re-profiled engine cowling and tail cone contributed to a drag reduction of nearly 2.5%, allowing a cruise speed boost of up to 330 KTAS. Engineers also redesigned landing gear doors and winglets further improved aerodynamics and stability. Pilots were given the easy to use Garmin G1000 suite, integrating flight management, synthetic vision, and advanced situational awareness.

In 2015, the TBM 910 was launched and is essentially a TBM 900 with next-generation avionics, emphasizing safety, situational awareness, and an ease of operation. The TBM 910 is powered by the Pratt & Whitney PT6-66D producing 850 SHP. Garmin G3000 with touchscreen interface, synthetic vision, and autopilot enhancements are standard for single-pilot operations. Daher also introduced the TBM 910 with e-copilot® systems, which include Angle of Attack indicator, Enhanced Safety Protection (ESP), Under Speed Protection (USP), and Emergency Descent Monitor (EDM). Subtle aerodynamic refinements such as the cowling, propeller design, and winglets are integrated through the help of the engineers for increased cruise efficiency and improved short-field performance.
