Dassault Falcon 6X Development & Background
The Dassault Falcon 6X wasn’t originally supposed to be in production. Initially, Dassault was creating the Dassault Falcon 5X, but faced major setbacks due to performance shortfalls from its initial Safran Silvercrest engines. Rather than compromise its standards, Dassault took the bold decision in 2017 to cancel the 5X program entirely and launched the Dassault Falcon 6X aircraft using the trusted Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812D engines delivering 13,500 pounds of thrust each. These engines are designed for low noise, clean combustion, and exceptional reliability, fitting into Dassault’s mission and ICAO standards.
The Dassault Falcon 6X was unveiled in February 2018. The Falcon 6X retained the elegant fuselage lines of the 5X but underwent a complete re-engineering of its systems, aerodynamics, and flight deck. Dassault extended the fuselage by 20 inches, giving a wide cabin of 8.5 feet (2.58 m) wide and 6.5 feet (1.98 m) high. After more than 1,500 flight hours across four prototypes, the Dassault Falcon 6X received EASA and FAA certification in 2023.
