Key Points: Why Charter the Gulfstream G600?

  • An impressive range of 6,600 nautical miles nonstop
  • Capable of Mach 0.90, among the fastest jets in its class.
  • Four living areas with 100% fresh air due to a state-of-the-art filtration system.
  • Introduced the Gulfstream’s Symmetry Flight Deck, improving safety and pilot workload.

Gulfstream G600 Development & Background

The Gulfstream G600 program was launched in October 2014 alongside its shorter-range sibling, the Gulfstream G500. The G600 program was developed to bridge the performance of the previous flagship G550 and the technology of the G650. The G600’s first flight was completed in December 2016, followed by a rigorous testing of 100,000 hours both in simulation and flight trails, ensuring a safe yet capable aircraft for the market.

Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling, the aircraft was built around a completely new wing design that was engineered for efficiency. This wing design resulted in a capability of maintaining Mach 0.90 cruise while achieving fuel economy far better than legacy models. The G600 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW815GA engines that provide 15,860 lbs of thrust. With the popularity of efficiency, these engines feature low-emission combustion systems, improved fuel efficiency, and extended time between overhauls (TBO), reducing operating costs.

Engineers also introduced the Gulfstream’s Symmetry Flight Deck, which featured active control sidesticks. This feature paired with advanced touchscreen avionics elevated both pilot workload management and situational awareness.

The Gulfstream G600 was a global excellence. By 2020, the G600 was setting multiple speed records and winning design awards, such as the International Yacht and Aviation Award for interior excellence.
