Gulfstream G650/650ER Aircraft Overview

Bill Gates loves this airplane so much that he owns two of them. Fortune 100 companies around the United States, such as Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson, have used the Gulfstream G650 as their primary source of transportation to safely transport their executives.

When the President of the Gulfstream Aerospace Program, Mark Burns, saw clients requesting further trips to more exotic locations, the G650 was introduced in 2008, with its first flight in November 25, 2009, and received FAA certification in September 2012.

Gulfstream engineers provided a newly sculpted wing with a 36-degree sweep and advanced air foils. Compared to the previous Gulfstream model, the fuselage was wider and taller than any previous Gulfstream model, allowing for a standup cabin with multiple cabin zones.

In 2014, Gulfstream released the 650ER (extended range) variant. The ER model had an increased fuel capability of 4,000lbs (667 GAL) and improved RR BR725 A1-12 engines, extending the aircraft’s range from 7,000 nm to 7,500 nm.

The success of the G650 was guaranteed through its innovation of increased range, cruise speed, fuel efficiency, and an advanced cockpit, and over 600 deliveries have been made since inception. In 2014, Gulfstream earned the Robert J. Collier Trophy for technological advancement and set more than 120 world speed records with the Gulfstream 650/650ER.

Gulfstream G650 Experiences

“On a recent flight from Houston to Dubai aboard the G650, the aircraft climbed cleanly above the weather, and the cabin altitude was so low that even after 14 hours, jet lag was noticeably minimized. Our team held video calls in perfect clarity, and the privacy and comfort made the trip seamless.”

— A FlyRoving corporate client, CEO, March 2025

“As a pilot, the G650’s performance is something to respect. Even from hotter airports or during high-temperature summer afternoons, it still gives a margin. The takeoff roll, the thrust, the climb—even when you’re near max weight—stays strong. We’ve flown into challenging airports and the G650 has always delivered.”
