Hawker 4000 Development & Background

Originally conceived in the mid-1990s by Raytheon Aircraft Company, the aircraft was designed under the name Hawker Horizon. After its first flight in 2001, the Horizon faced delays due to advanced systems integration and composite manufacturing challenges. By the time it received FAA certification in 2006, Raytheon had rebranded its business aircraft division to Hawker Beechcraft Corporation, and the aircraft was officially renamed the Hawker 4000, entering full production in 2008.

Engineers gave the Hawker 4000 one of the most groundbreaking features, a fully carbon-fiber composite fuselage in its class, helping reduce structural weight by nearly 20% increase pressurization tolerance and cabin durability, and improve aerodynamics with smoother contours and fewer joints. Another “first” the Hawker 4000 had was one of the first all-glass flight decks in its class, equipped with the Honeywell Primus Epic (EPIC CDS) avionics suite.

Although production ended in 2013 due to Beechcraft’s restructuring, the Hawker 4000 remains one of the most sought-after pre-owned super-midsize jets, admired for its reliability, cabin comfort, and advanced design.
