The Learjet 45 was introduced by Bombardier Aerospace in the early 1990s as a project aimed to create a midsize business jet, while having the same design philosophy and characteristics of the original Learjet. Created from scratch to meet FAA Part 25 standards, the Learjet 45 first flew in 1995, with certification in 1997. In 2004, Bombardier introduced the Learjet 45XR.
